How to Use
- Enter the amount.
- Enter the VAT rate (e.g. 20 for the UK standard rate).
- Choose "Add VAT" or "Remove VAT" depending on whether your amount is net or gross.
Frequently Asked Questions
What's the difference between net and gross?
Net is the price before VAT is added; gross is the price including VAT.
What VAT rate should I use?
It depends on your country and product category — standard EU/UK rates range from 17% to 27%. Check your local tax authority for the correct rate.
Is this the same as sales tax?
VAT and sales tax are calculated differently in principle, but this calculator's add/remove logic works for simple single-stage sales tax too.
